Diabetes – Let’s Dia-Beat It!

In today’s modern lifestyle, unhealthy food habits are becoming the norm and there is a steep rise in the number of diseases that affect people. The most common of these diseases is Diabetes. Diabetes Mellitus, commonly known as Diabetes, is a metabolic disease that causes high blood sugar levels in the body. It is a chronic health condition that affects how your body breaks down food into energy (glucose). Insulin, a hormone secreted by Pancreas helps the cells in the body to absorb glucose.

What causes Diabetes?

The underlying cause of Diabetes depends on the type of Diabetes. However, no matter what type of diabetes you have, it leads to an excess sugar level in your body. Diabetes can also lead to kidney complications or increase the risk of infections of the urinary tract. The exact cause of Diabetes is still unknown but environmental factors and lifestyle changes play a huge role. Eating healthy, organic, and home-cooked meals reduces the chances of being affected by Diabetes.

Types of Diabetes:

There are two types of Diabetes – Type 1 & Type 2 Diabetes.

  • Type -1 Diabetes: The body does not produce Insulin in this case. People affected with Type 1 Diabetes can live a normal life by continuing their Insulin Therapy, proper diet, and healthy lifestyle.
  • Type – 2 Diabetes: This type of Diabetes is more common among people. In this type of Diabetes, the body does not use insulin properly. Some people can control their blood sugar levels with healthy eating and exercise, while others may need medication or insulin to manage it.
